$2000 fine if caught supplying alcohol to minors

It's a scenario seen in homes throughout the country, the distribution of alcohol to young people under the age of 18.

From tomorrow onwards, you could be fined $2000 for that action.

According to the new law, it will be illegal to supply alcohol to someone under the age of 18 unless you are the parent or legal guardian, or if you have express consent from the parent.

Supermarkets and liquor shops will also be pinged. Selling alcohol between 11pm and 7am will be illegal.  On top of that, pubs and bars will have to close by 4am.

It's hoped the public will catch on to the new laws as soon as possible, seeing a smooth transition through the festive season.
