Woman’s body found after Northland flooding

Police have found the body of a woman who was swept away in flood waters at Haruru Falls in Northland.

A tragic outcome of the floods and chaotic weather that has hammered Northland recently.

The fallout of the weather bomb continues with Paihia residents being told to conserve water as silt has clogged-up the water treatment plant.

Moerewa has also felt the blunt force of the most recent storms and rainfall, now they have turned their attention towards the clean-up.

According to Kelvin Davis, "I thought that it's a great idea for me to come and lend a hand moving belongings like mats, chairs, tables and computers, all those things affected by the flood.”

Te Waimaria is a solo mother of three, her neighbourhood has been largely affected by the floods, Otiria Road has been without power for the past two days and clogged sewage and drainage systems.

Te Waimaria's neighbour, Phillip Ngawati is in the same boat.  He is annoyed that this has happened twice in just over a month and wonders how the Council is going to fix this.

It is not known when the lives and homes of these Moerewa residents will resume back to normal.
