2016 Waitangi Day Celebrations in OZ & NZ

Preparation for Waitangi Day celebrations are taking place all over New Zealand.  Kiwis in Australia are also acknowledging Waitangi Day by hosting events across Australia.

Te Haupai Māori and Pacifica Island Association Inc will be hosting the Perth Waitangi Day celebrations this year.  The event is an opportunity for whānau to come together and enjoy a full day of kai, entertainment and history of Waitangi Day.  The event is smoke and alcohol-free.

Te Haupai Māori and Pacifica Island Association Inc, Mervin Enoka says, "It's about bringing the community together.  Although we are commemorating the Treaty of Waitangi, the people living at home are all New Zealanders."

 Perth Waitangi Day 2016 - Perth, Feb 6th.

Sydney Waitangi Day Festival 2016 

The Sydney Waitangi Day Festival kicks-off tomorrow with a full day of entertainment at the Holroyd City Gardens, Merrylands Sydney.  The event will have stalls, arts & craft, food, cultural performances and much more.

Waitangi @ Waititi - Tāmaki Makaurau, Feb 6th.

Waitangi @ Waititi is turning up the heat this year with the Royal Family Dance Crew taking the stage. A number of other NZ artists will be providing a days worth of fun and exciting entertainment for the whole whānau. Kids rides, kai stalls and Māori Art exhibitions will be on display. This is a smoke free and alcohol free event.

Waitangi Day Family Celebrations - Tāmaki Makaurau, Feb 6th.

The Waitangi Day Family Celebrations was originally launched in 1997 to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. It also gives local performers an opportunity to bring their talents to a wider audience. Top acts will headline the event such as, Savage, Three Houses Down, Sid Diamond, Dei Hamo and Ranea.

The event is a zero-waste, smoke-free and alcohol-free event.

Waitangi Day Festival - Auckland (Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei), Feb 6th.

The Waitangi Day Festival held by Ngāti Whatua Ōrakei will be held at Bastion Point. The event commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi by Māori chiefs and representatives of the British crown on 6th February 1840.

The family focused event features a full day of outstanding live acts including Kiwi Reggae favourites, House of Shem who will be headlining the event.

The event is strictly smoke, drug and alcohol free with a focus on zero-waste.

Te Rā o Waitangi, Summer City - Wellington, Feb 6th.

Te Rā o Waitangi celebrates the national day at Waitangi Park, Wellington. The free event will have kapa haka on display and food stalls set up around the park. Headlining acts include,  Ardijah, Beau Monga, Sianne and Grove Roots.
