22-year-old female deserted following sexual assault

Canterbury Police are appealing for public support following the sexual assault on a 22-year-old female who was offered a ride by a passing motorist.

According to Detective Wayne Boyd, “The 22-year-old victim, who was visibly upset, was sitting outside Mico Wakefields by the bus stop on Cranford Street shortly after 2 pm on 7 April 2015 when a passing motorist stopped to check she was ok.  Police understand that the motorist offered her a lift to the bus stop on Main North Road.”

It is reported that the offender drove the victim to the motorway end of Main North Road where he turned into Dickeys Road and parked in an enclosed logging yard approximately 300 metres from the intersection.

He then sexually assaulted the victim in his vehicle for some time before he dropped her off at Main North Road near Johns Road.

The man is described as Māori 30-40 years old, clean shaven wearing a white t-shirt and long ‘Dickey’ brand shorts which reached below his knee.

He was driving a dirty white coloured early model Mazda Familia four-door sedan with tinted rear lights and the vehicle was clean and tidy inside.

Police want to hear from anyone that has any information on the man or his vehicle described.
