500 Cook Island WWI soldiers honoured

"Lest We Forget the 500 Cook Islands Soldiers" is the focus of an Arts and Cultural exhibition which opened today at Depot Art Space in Auckland.

They left Rarotonga for WWI to serve King and Country.

Mangere's SDA Pathfinders and Adventurers Club led the way to the special exhibition at Devonport's Depot Art Space.

The youth were amazed at the exhibits, listening to the stories and reading about the exploits in remembrance of the 500 young men who left their homes in Rarotonga and went to WWI.

The survival of the memories and the history of their 500 Cook Island Ancestral Warriors are in the hands of today's generation.
