A 5.8 magnitude earthquake has struck near Levin and Wellington.
The quake was felt as far as north as Gisborne and happened around 7.53am just as the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was conducting a Live interview on Newshub.
There have been no reports of major damage.
GNS says it was unusual for that magnitude in the Horowhenua region.
