    We have an opportunity for an experienced News Editor join our NCA team.

    We are seeking an individual who has;

    Strong leadership and coaching: Ability to lead, direct, inspire and coach staff on all aspects of newsroom work, from content creation to writing compelling news stories in a manner appropriate to the platform it will be published to.

    Ability to handle a staff, budget, and inventory of expensive equipment.

    The ability to meet scheduled deadlines, make split-second decisions on content, ensure ethical standards are always met, and juggle time training team

    You will have a tertiary qualification in journalism or a related field and/or 5-10 years’ experience in the same or similar role.

    Communication and interpersonal talents: Ability to work well with others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Te Reo and English

    Critical-thinking and problem-solving capabilities: Ability to handle pressure calmly, such as responding to breaking news dispatching crews to the scene and getting someone on the air with an immediate bulletin and/or relevant pictures and written content.

    Ability to perform market research and know the target demographics of their Audience.

    Knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga Māori is critical to be successful in this role.

  • Head of Marketing and Communications

    We have an opportunity for an experienced Marketing and Communications Manager to lead our Audience and Engagement team. As a key member of Māori Television’s leadership team you will provide strategic and operational direction to a team including stakeholder communications, commercials and content promotion, events and competitions and membership services.

    Additionally you will develop Māori Television’s brands through the development of integrated marketing techniques, effective external and internal communications and event marketing and responsibility for helping to deliver to the commercial strategy devised to attract additional income into Māori Television.

    You will have a tertiary qualification in Marketing and Communication or a related field, and experience in senior consumer facing marketing and/or communications and/or PR roles.

    We are seeking an individual who has;

    Experience dealing with the media and digital media platforms and able to demonstrate a broad range of professional management, communication and marketing skills

    Experience in managing and motivating a multidisciplinary team

    Proven ability to use insights to shape strategic and operational plans, and able to work strategically without close supervision whilst being a key and supportive member of the senior leadership team

    An understanding of brand protection and growing value in a brand

    Experience with sponsorship and licensing

    Demonstrated ability to manage a heavy work programme, work to set priorities and achieve against targets

    An analytical, numerate and disciplined thinker who has the ability to think complex issues through and produce commercially sound judgments

    A committed and loyal individual, prepared to work the necessary hours to meet deadlines

    Working knowledge of information technology and computer systems

    Understanding of broadcasting industry landscape domestically and internationally and an understanding of public affairs

    Knowledge of event planning and operational delivery

    Knowledge of government funding agencies and their systems

    Conversational competency level of te reo maori with an understanding of te reo Māori me ona tikanga māori is desirable and preferred.  We are looking for someone who has experience and is comfortable working in a kaupapa Maori based environment with an ongoing commitment to te reo Māori and ona tikanga.

  • Content Manager

    We are looking for an experienced Content Manager to join our Content Creation team. 

    As a key member of the Content team, you will support the Head of Content Creation to develop and create content that aligns to Māori Television’s Content strategy and Outcomes Framework.

    The successful applicant will:

    Manage and oversee the operational management of In-house Production and achieve department budgets within agreed parameters.

    Manage in-house procurement and production of in-house content for all platforms to meet our statutory requirements, maximise audiences and best implement and deliver on the Content Strategy & Outcome Framework including:

    Develop programme content for in-house production; and

    incorporating te reo me ngā tikanga Māori strategies into all in-house programming;

    Exceptional executive production leadership and operational management of in-house production content that engages with statutory and growth audiences.

    Have a minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Producer across multiple programme genre content

    A new and exciting position as Tumu Kōkiri Reo – Head of Reo, will work to ensure te reo Māori thrives at Māori Television.

    This is a key leadership role in the implementation of our strategy for te reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori across our entire organisation.

    You will work closely with our Tāhuhu Reo – Director of Language and Culture, and engage with key stakeholders and partners in national language revitalisation initiatives.

    An excellent command of Māori and English is essential.   Applicants must also be well-versed in tikanga Māori.

    Key responsibilities are:

    • to provide strategic leadership in the implementation of our Māori language and tikanga Māori strategy
    • engage with key stakeholders including Crown entities, Media sector partners, iwi and Māori community organisations
    • lead our Reo Team of multiplatform language advisors and translators.

    Experience and knowledge in language planning and language revitalisation is an advantage.
