All Black Sevens secure Olympic spot despite loss at Glasgow

Fiji have beaten the All Blacks Sevens 24-17 in the final of the Glasgow Sevens.  Despite the loss NZ has qualified for the Olympics in Rio next year alongside Fiji and South Africa.

It was a second half push which saw Fiji take the lead.  Three tries in quick succession by the Fijians nullified the groundwork laid by Kiwis Sherwin Stowers and Sam Dickson in the first half. While Scott Curry came in to score again for NZ, after two disallowed tries to Sam Vaka, one for a double movement and the second after he was taken high close to the try line, their fate was sealed.

So now the defending champs sit third overall on the ladder, behind Fiji and South Africa, confirming their place at the Rio Olympic Games, while England and Australia contest the last spot.
