Anika Moa's Songs for Bubbas 2 album tops NZ charts

Anika Moa's recently released album Songs for Bubbas 2 was the top Kiwi album last week. This week, it has finished as the number one album in New Zealand.

It's the first number one album for Anika since her debut Thinking Room topped the charts in 2001.

Moa says, “The number one has blown my mind. I am humbled and proud of my work. It's good to be hanging with the likes of Adele and Justin Bieber in the charts. Naturally.”

The album follows the success of her first children's album Songs for Bubbas 1  which features on the chart this week at number 14, despite it being released in 2013.

Moa's latest children's album has proven to be a hit around the country. The album was made possible with the help of the public and fans.

A Pledge Me campaign, supported by Anika's fans was followed by an earthly creative process which saw Anika crafting the songs in cottages all around the country.

She's currently on the road with the 'In Between Nap Time Tour.' Fans on Anika's Facebook page have suggested venues where she could perform. The tour is an opportunity for fun, festivity and close interaction with Anika and the music.

“'The last few months have been very rewarding for me as an artist who takes my music where my heart goes. I am now releasing music that is appealing to the younger generation and it feels surreal that it has taken Aotearoa bubbas by storm,” Anika adds.
