Is Anthony Joshua running scared of Parker?

Heavyweight boxers from around the world are lining up for a shot at the World Heavyweight title including New Zealand's most promising boxing prospect, Joseph Parker.

The 24-year-old is best known for his devastating power and quick speed. Parker recently fought in Samoa against American boxer, Jason Bergman to increase his record, 18-0-KO16.

Parker moved into 3rd place in the WBO rankings just below British fighter Anthony Joshua.

Parker’s promoter, Dean Lonagan put the challenge forward to Joshua's boxing promoter Eddie Hearn about a possible match-up.

In an interview reported on Sky Sports, Hearn said, "The Parker fight is a fight that can happen as long as he keeps winning. With respect, the level of opponents he has fought hasn't been up to the standard of Joshua's but I rate Parker. I think it's a good fight.

Both orthodox fighters share a few similarities. Joshua is slightly taller and heavier, Parker stands at a comfortable 6'4.

Parker's name was mentioned as a possible opponent for Joshua in his bout in London April 9th.
