Aotea Senior Kapa Haka Regionals - Te Huatahi

Founded in 1993, Te Huatahi by the tutor of Te Wānanga Māori ki Rangiātea in Ngāmotu to support the Aotea Rohe Regionals held in Hāwera that year.

At the time, it was an alternative pathway for students to support their learning of te reo Māori.

Since then, Te Huatahi have been avid supporters of the competition, having only missed three events since '93.

Te Huatahi have stood twice at national level, first in 1998 at Te Whanganui ā Tara, and then in Ngāruawāhia in 2000.

And since their inception, they have strived to uphold the treasures of their ancestors; especially their unique Taranaki dialect and customs.

Having always participated in many Taranaki community activities, particularly in the north, including pōwhiri for national and international dignitaries, involvement with the Taranaki Arts Festival, and the world-renowned event WOMAD.

They proudly celebrate 21 years of being a strong rōpū.
