Aotearoa's colonial past still hotly disputed

The George Floyd protests have sparked a reaction around the world as protestors also reject the remnants of colonisation. 

On Sunday activists in the UK toppled a statue of a notable 17th-century businessman/slave trader into the Thames River - though not before standing on the statue's neck, a clear link with the Floyd protests.

Back home Aotearoa's colonial past and the statues that commemorate it are still hotly disputed by Māori.
