ASB Polyfest: Competition fierce on Māori stage

Ngā Puna Waiorea are the last group to perform on the Māori stage at Polyfest this evening. Hundreds are now awaiting the results which will be revealed in an hour.

Most teams today had last minute preparations before they took the stage.

Kings College are one of the top 5 teams to get to the secondary school nationals competition in Hawke's Bay this year, but it doesn’t mean the standard has changed.

“Although we've made the top 5, and we just need to prove ourselves out on the stage there today,” say Awanui Morris from Kings College.

According to tutor for Kings College, Lincoln Savage, many teams will be wanting a chance to represent, “Without a doubt, schools will be after a spot so they can say they are going back to the Nationals.”

The competition was fierce today and this was evident on the Māori stage where around 8,000 people attended throughout the day.

Tomorrow we'll bring you the results of the competition.
