Big effort from NZ rafting teams

It's been an exciting final few days of world class white water rafting, encompassing the youth, juniors, and men’s, women's and masters sections.

Those who helped bring the IRF World Rafting Championship to life believe the sport needs to be recognised in NZ.

The event was held on the Tarawera River in Kawerau, the Kaituna River in Rotorua and yesterday, on the Rangitaiki River near Murupara.

The final results for the NZ Open Men's team saw them come in at third overall, while the NZ Open Women's team took top spot, along with the gold medal.

With both NZ masters teams placing first, the World Rafting Championships ended on a high for NZ, with the next world championships set for Brazil in 2014.
