Black Sox take out World Champs

The win makes them world champions for the sixth time. Although Venezuela came out hard, they couldn't stop New Zealand.

A standing ovation from the crowd at Rosedale Park as the NZ Black Sox became world champions.

Skipper Rhys Casley led like a true leader, coming back from a shoulder injury last year to provide a winning three-run homer.

For his third world title, Nathan Nukunuku was a late call-up into the Black Sox as injury cover for captain Rhys Casley and found himself starting.

It was a final full of heated moments. Veteran batter, Brad Rona, debuted for the Black Sox at the 2000 World Championship, today making his fourth appearance at the tournament.

The effort of the team as a whole was completely evident and the results shone through for our team. New Zealand beating Venezuela to take the championship 4 -1.
