Breakers defeated by Hawks in seasons first clash

The Breakers lost their first game for the season last night against the Illawarra Hawks. Former Breakers player Kirk Penney caused all kinds of problems for his old team.

Penney was the first to score points off the whistle for the Hawks. In the last clash between the two teams, Penney scored an impressive 36 points against the Breakers.

He successfully scored 27 points against the home team last night. Corey Webster and Tai Wesley were the Breakers’ standout players scoring 25 and 20 points respectively.

Turnovers and scrappy play by the Breakers ultimately cost them the game. The Hawks quickly capitalised on the home side’s mistakes.

Final score - 107-83 to the Hawks.

The Breakers remain second on the ladder behind the Perth Wildcats. Their next game on the road against the Sydney Kings.
