Brown Butterbean responds to Facebook fight callout video

The Brown Butterbean has responded to a recent Facebook callout video by challenger Tamati Keefe, the 140kg pure Māori from Te Puru.

Dave Letele aka Brown Butterbean stated, “Come at me bro! It's the mighty Buttabean here. Cool video... Did a 5 year old make it? Cairo George make sure the BBB fights him.”

Tamati Keefe, aged 37, has put his hand up and entered his name into the Facebook challenge organised by ‘Team George Promotions’ to fight Butterbean at this year’s ‘Chaos in the Coromandel’ event in Thames on March 21.

Recently moving home from Australia, the father of seven works full-time as a farmer and with no former boxing experience, Keefe believes he can still do the business.

“I have a bit more mongrel in me than any of the other fullas, and a bit of Māori in the mix,” says Keefe.

Butterbean has fought the likes of Manu Vatuvei’s older brother, Lopini Vatuvei and Rugby superstar, Jonah Lomu’s older brother, John Lomu.

Criticism flared following a controversial win to Butterbean when he fought Waikato prop, Loni Uhila in the KFC Fight for Life event.

Despite Butterbean's previous fight outcomes, Keefe remains calm and is hopeful his name is called when the announcement for Butterbean’s opponent is made.
