In Whangarei, the call for change was a common message mayoral and local body candidates were pushing in Ōtangarei last night with only nine days left before the close of voting.
There were a wide range of issues and perspectives presented by candidates to the people of Ōtangarei.
This year there is an unprecedented number of mayoral candidates as well as Māori standing for office.
It's a fact that Māori voters have predominantly been absent from previous local body elections but due to lobbying by candidates in the community this year, it's said that the whole Ōtangarei community has already voted.
People are being urged to play their part in regional management by casting their votes.
