Canterbury Police SAR are still searching for a hunter who has now been missing for four days
64 year old Murray Edge was reported missing shortly after 7:30 am Monday morning after last being seen on Sunday night.
The Police say they will now review their search data after a search of a couple smaller areas yesterday did not reveal any sign of the man.
Canterbury Rural Area Commander, Inspector Dave Gaskin, says, “The search area centred on where the friend Murray was hunting with last saw him. Police will be reviewing both the search data and additional information provided to them by friends and family. Murray was an experienced hunter, in good health and is understood to have had food and additional clothing with him at the time he went missing.”
Inspector Gaskin says,“On behalf of Canterbury Police and Murray’s family we would like to thank everyone who has assisted with the search to date. Local farmers and the farming community, Murray’s friends and family and the SAR volunteers from Twizel, Lake Tekapo, Fairlie and Timaru whose employers who enabled them to take part by taking leave.”
Police say they will not comment any further until the information they have, has been reviewed.
