Carlsberg Football United NZ Tour 2014

English football club, West Ham United received a traditional Māori welcome on arrival to NZ today for the highly anticipated Carlsberg Football United NZ Tour 2014.

According to Te Iwingaro Mathews, “It's an honour for us to welcome them here to Auckland, to NZ.” The competition will run all month long which will see four teams playing four games across three NZ cities.

Amongst the football stars was NZ's very own born, Winston Reid.  Te Iwingaro Mathews says, “From my understanding the Reid name is from Ngāpuhi, so I congratulate him for all he has done to represent us as Māori.”

With Newcastle United arriving in Dunedin tomorrow, the big question on everybody’s lips is, who will be taking the championship home this year?
