Carrington most successful NZ paddler following gold medal double

Lisa Carrington is now New Zealand's most successful world championship canoe racer, after winning her second gold medal in Milan.  Her two wins take her overall World Championship gold medal haul to five, overtaking New Zealand legend Paul McDonald.

Once again, Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki's Lisa Carrington is on top of the world.

"It was a really good weekend.  I mean it was pretty tough been four days of racing," she says.

The New Zealand powerhouse paddler made a relatively slow start, but she quickly powered away from her rivals to win the race in 40.060 seconds.

Blazing her way to her second gold medal in Milan makes Carrington a favourite to claim two gold medals at the Rio Olympics next year.

"Racing the 500 which was a really big challenge to rise up and do that event," Carrington adds.

She has also confirmed that she'll trial for the doubles squad for Rio.
