D-day for Novopay

Minister Steven Joyce will present the findings tomorrow and one principal says it's long overdue.

It's been a hard six months and with yet another bug detected in the Novopay system,it seems things are set to get worse.

School Principal Moarikura Sandy Johnson says, “It's a huge strain on staff who are struggling to pay for groceries, housing expenses and all the rest.'

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna have had more than their fair share of Novopay issues, which have seen the school reach into its own pockets to pay its underpaid staff.

Ms Johnson says “it's a huge concern in terms of administration, because the funds being used to pay staff may come from budgets set aside for student resources."

Minister Steven Joyce will be making a major announcement on Novopay tomorrow, and many teachers believe it’s well overdue as current Novopay help-staff aren't hitting the mark.

The Novopay debacle has caused an uproar amongst school staff all over the country and Ms Jones is hoping for some relief from the Government.

She says, “they must give some relief for teachers and school staff because if they aren't looked after, it's the children who stand to suffer.”

So it's a nervous wait for teachers around the country as they await a decision on what will no doubt have an affect on their immediate future.
