Diehard rugby fans slept overnight at Te Papa for final ticket release

Two thousand tickets went on sale this morning in Wellington following the sell-out of the initial ticket release for this weekend's biggest match, Hurricanes versus Highlanders.

Hundreds of die-hard Hurricanes fans camped out at Te Papa overnight, awaiting the ticket sale which kicked off at 8am.

The first release of tickets went on sale earlier in the week and sold out in less than a minute.

The Hurricanes management confirmed there was always going to be a second release of tickets, and after Monday's sell-out, they had decided to give real fans the opportunity to snap up these last tickets by queueing up at Te Papa Tongarewa.

Whare Moke (Ngāti Raukawa) and Nathan Uriaro (Cook Is Māori) were the first two to purchase their tickets this morning after queueing up at 5pm yesterday.

When asked about the overnight queueing, Moke said, "It's quite relaxed actually, no-one misbehaving, no silly behaviour."

Hurricanes are heading into their first home final in 20 years, and their fans are hoping they bring home the big win.
