Disparity in numbers of Māori vs Pākehā removed by Oranga Tamariki examined

The disparity between the number of Māori and Pākehā children who have been removed from their families by Oranga Tamariki was the main focus of the inquiry into state care before the Waitangi Tribunal today.

The tribunal is looking at child welfare legislation and practices that have affected tamariki Māori and the changes that need to be made to ensure better outcomes for Māori.
