With the New Zealand Secondary Schools Volleyball competition coming to a close today, it saw 145 teams from all across the country competing, including one stand out duo, Kahurangi Robinson and his playing partner Nate Moore. They leave on Sunday to represent New Zealand in Thailand at the Beach Volleyball Asian qualifying tournament, that could see them head to the Youth Olympics.

It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication, but now Kahurangi Robinson is getting the payback.

Kahurangi Robinson, of Ngāti Porou says, that “it feels pretty amazing, to get an opportunity like that to represent your country.”

Kahurangi will head to Thailand for the beach volleyball Asian qualifying tournament with his playing partner, Nate Moore.

“Over here is good but over there is a whole another level, we'll be facing guys 6'8” [they’re] really massive” says Nate.

In the last three years since Kahurangi has been playing, he has excelled rapidly in the sport making the New Zealand teams for both indoor and beach varieties of the sport.

Paora Morrison, who coaches the dynamic duo, says that “they're two talent individuals, very strong partnership, good mates.”

The pair will be wanting to do well and secure one of six qualifying spots if they're to make it to the Youth Olympics.
