Eye opener for ABs' first test against England

By Tamati Tiananga

The All Blacks somehow edged out England at Eden Park with a try from Conrad Smith in the 78th minute.

With the game locked at 15-15 inside the final four minutes, Aaron Cruden turned down a potential shot at goal and took a tap penalty, choosing to attack.

The All Black coaches believed if a player feels it is the right one at the right time, then the players are obligated to take it.

There were a number of uncharacteristic errors from many experienced players.

The game was very physical with pressure coming from both sides, leaving the All Blacks unable to get any forward momentum.

The return of Jerome Kaino is something that has clearly been welcomed, even without Kieran Read available, Kaino brought a physical presence.

Next week in Dunedin the All Blacks will have to be on their game as it is expected England will have a fresh look with a heap of new players taking the field.

All Blacks beat England 20 - 15.
