Family Works launches White Ribbon Day campaign

White ribbons were placed in Downtown Auckland today by members of the public in an effort to raise awareness around domestic violence.

Almost 14 women and eight children on average are killed each year in New Zealand at the hands of a family member.

To highlight these figures, Family Works launched the event ahead of White Ribbon Day.

Today, Family Works hosted their event in Auckland focused on building strong families.

White Ribbon Day, 25 November, is the international day when people wear a white ribbon to show that they do not condone violence towards women.
