Far North checkpoints should be restarted - Hone Harawira

Far North kaumatua Hone Harawira is considering re-establishing checkpoints and placing the Far North in full isolation if the country's second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic worsens.

He notes New Zealand is the middle of winter, a time when a large population of whānau are already sick. Reopening the checkpoints will minimize the risks of Covid-19 transmitting into his region, he says.
