Free Fitness sessions prove popular in Rotorua

What started off as a passion has become a reality for Warren Tumarae, who for the last three years, has been helping to run free fitness sessions in Rotorua.

Warren Tumarae says it's been a life changing experience since he set up free fitness sessions three years ago, “It was a time when I kind of depressed and I've always used health or fitness as a way of getting myself back on my feet, I had a couple of mates that were going through similar issues so we all got together and I starting running some programmes for them down here.”

Free Fit Rotorua has grown rapidly since its inception and Warren has incorporated a communication tool to keep up with demand.

Tumarae says their Facebook has 1,500 members they can share positive messaging with around fitness, nutrition and motivation, “We have group numbers so last week we had about 40+ come down and we run every Tuesday to Friday from 6pm to 7pm.”

Free Fit Rotorua classes are run in central Rotorua and Warren hopes the classes will spread to the wider community.

“I've always been kind of community minded and cause I love it, it doesn't really bother me to run these sorts of things but we have got a lot of whānau out there so it just about tying things have less barriers whānau to engage,” says Tumarae.

The classes are open to all ages.
