Full steam ahead for world-renowned Māori performer, Mika

Māori performer extraordinaire, Mika, has been internationally recognised at the second Native American Music and Film Festival in Temecula, Canada for his contribution to Māori and Native American music and screen projects.

The artist has been reported to have recorded a song with Māori actress Keisha Castle-Hughes, which will feature in a US blockbuster soundtrack next year.

Mika will also showcase other works at the imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival in Toronto next week.  He thanked Māori Television for supporting him in the initial stages of his television career.

"We are committed to making works that we believe in.  I would not have had the television career if it wasn't for Māori Television.  I wouldn't be here if Māori Television hadn't supported me early on when I first started." says Mika.
