Future Blues & Chiefs players battle it out in U18 match

The talent pool of future Chiefs and Blues players were on display today at St Paul's Collegiate School as the U18 development squads went head-to-head.

The hard work over a five-day camp has been done, now it's time to show the results.

Jacob Iakapo crossed in the corner with sheer individual brilliance.  But Viliami Taulani responded by barging over with a try.

Blues captain Matt McKenzie showed a touch of class before half-time, beating out two defenders.

The Blues were quick to strike in the second half, stretching out the lead to 22-5.

An opportunity arose for the Chiefs but it was quickly shut down.  The Blues fullback chopped a hole to cross, taking the score to 27-5.

However, the Chiefs had the last say with a try in the left corner.

Kaydin Budd says, “The pace of the game was a lot faster than schoolboy rugby and the Auckland players were huge.”

The Blues came out on top 27-12,  this show of talent means the future for these teams is looking bright.
