Bay of Plenty Iwi Ngāti Whakahemo are distraught that the Government has put their land up for purchase.
Ngāti Whakahemo has been fighting the Government for about 90 years for a block of land, which is roughly 1000 acres.
Ngāti Whakahemo spokesperson Mita Ririnui is disagreeing with Minister of Treaty Negotiations, Chris Finlayson.
But Mita says the previous government had lodged the claim under Te Arawa instead of Mataatua.
There are still further negotiations to go between the Iwi and Landcorp.
