Hato Petera College boarding facilities permanently closed in 2016

Boarding facilities for students at Hato Petera College will be permanently closed in 2016.

A statement from Te Whānau o Hato Petera Trust and the Catholic Diocese of Auckland listed a number of reasons for the closure including some of the buildings no longer being suitable to accommodate students and significant work and investment being required to bring the facilities up to standard.

The statement also said the trust has serious financial issues.

Hato Petera Whānau Trustee member Rudy Taylor says parents of the students are now trying to find other accommodation for their children near the school on the North Shore.

Taylor also says a meeting will be held at Hato Petera to provide feedback and discuss a way forward for the school.
