"Healing Our Spirits Worldwide" welcomes Mauri Ora theme

Te Rau Matatini is preparing to host more than 1,500 people from around the world for a five day indigenous health and well-being conference, “Healing Our Spirits Worldwide” in November.

Takuta Kahu McClintock says, “The theme this year is Mauri Ora with representatives from Canada, Hawai'i, Australia and other places converging on New Zealand as one people with one voice.”

The Seventh Gathering will take place at Claudelands, in Hamilton from 15-19 November and it’s a significant event to Waikato-Tainui because the patron is Te Arikinui Kīngi Tuheitia Paki.

The Gathering will act as a knowledge exchange with a focus on indigenous futures and their communities.  They will also gain knowledge and solutions they can take back to their communities and whānau.

“No matter where we are, we as Māori dream for our people to stand tall and strong, and hope all other cultures follow that dream also,” says McClintock.

The event will also feature a Festival Village which will be open to the public.
