Health Minister to launch "Patient Portal"

Minister of Health Dr Jonathan Coleman will be part of a "patient portal" campaign launch today in Auckland.

Details around the launch are yet to be released, but it comes after former health minister Tony Ryall's announcement late last year that National would be investing $3 million to expand the roll out of "patient portals".

Patient portals allow more people to securely access their health information online.

In a previous statement by Ryall, he said "a patient portal is an online service which allows a patient to securely log in and do things like check their latest laboratory test results, order a repeat prescription, or send a message directly to their GP - all from the convenience of their home."

Today's patient portal campaign launch begins lunchtime.
