Homesickness adds to the challenge for Langman

On the eve of the most anticipated match of the Swifts' season, Laura Langman believes this match is the culmination of her ANZ Championship career.

Laura Langman says, “I've got very very fond memories of my time with Magic and I think to be fair I think is quite a fitting final to be played in Hamilton considering Swifts and Magic were in the very first final of the ANZ Championship.”

However, the team was under the pump after losing to the Queensland Firebirds by 16 points in last week's Australian conference final.

”So it's back to the drawing board,” says Langman.

“From where we are and where we need to be is a very short shift and I think the girls have taken it quite well. So we're looking forward to hitting the ground and running in Hamilton,” says Langman.

Moving away from home has been a tough challenge for the Silver Fern superstar, leaving behind her husband Adrian Pooley while she pursued her dreams in Australia.

Langman says, “Adrien and I have been lucky enough to see each other once a month, so I just asked them then that I was booking my flight because he wanted me to come back, so I said ‘yes’, so that was good.”

“It's been a great experience and what I wanted, so I'm still nervous knowing that this is the finals. So it has definitely lived up to and well beyond the expectations that I ever thought it could be,” says Langman.
