Homicide investigation continues in Whangarei

Northland Police continue to investigate the death of a 37-year-old man who was dropped off in a critical condition outside the St Johns Ambulance Station early yesterday morning.

Detective Inspector Kevin Burke says police have now identified two addresses of interest in both Central Whangarei and north of Whangarei. Scene examinations continue at both properties and at the station.

Inspector Burke says, “Police are still working to establish the circumstances surrounding this man’s death. We are asking any members of the public who may have witnessed a group of men gathered in the Whangarei or Kamo areas in the early hours of this morning to contact Whangarei Police."

A post-mortem will be carried out today. Police will not release the name of the man until he is formally identified.

Further updates will be provided this afternoon when Whangarei Police speak to media at 1pm.
