Hukanui the Homai champ

The talent of young Hukanui Brown shone through in the finals of Homai Te Pakipaki this year and as a result of the public support for his efforts he took home the ten thousand dollar prize and the title of this years show.

One of the unique aspects of this year’s finals and this particular competitor was while he had full support from his father Whata Brown he was also competing against him for the ten thousand dollar prize. While his dad gave him a literal run for his money Hukanui came out on top.

A total of ten finalists were selected in this year’s final with Diane Tibble taking out second place and close behind her Abbey Leigh secured the third spot of the competition.

According to Hukanui he hasn’t decided how to spend the grand prize yet but his core focus will be how he plans to move forward in the world of music and capitalise on his fantastic achievement.
