Hundreds of passionate dancers prepare for NZ Hip-Hop Championships

The 2015 NZ Hip-Hop Dance Championships starts today with around 500 dancers from the bottom of the south island to the top of the North competing for the top spot and the chance to perform at the World Hip-hop Championships in California.

While performers take to the stage, it's Natasha Kemp and her team that are keeping the beat.

Kaiāwhina, Te Ao Tanaki says "There are about 60 of us that work without pay here to help support this cause, to ensure it runs smoothly."

"We are here from 7am until 12am the next day, all for the same reason."

Tonight the junior and adult crews take the stage for the preliminary rounds, then later tonight they will find out who will move on to the finals on Saturday.
