Māori lawyer Julia Amua Whaipooti is concerned if Police are allowed to carry firearms at all times, that the amount of Māori being shot by Police will increase.
She says tasers were introduced to reduce the use of firearms but instead their usage has increased.
The veteran Māori advocate stated that between 2011-2018 Māori being tasered per year increased from 30 per year to 600.
