Investigations continue into a fire which destroyed buildings at Te Wānanga o Raukawa in Ōtaki.

The cause of the fire is still not known but will be determined by a specialist who is still at the scene.

The building under refurbishment was to be an extention of the library and a multi purpose conference room.

Te Wānanga o Raukawa CEO Mereana Selby says she's relieved no one was hurt during the blaze.

"We're very lucky that our classrooms and places commonly used by our students, such as the dining hall of the wānanga, weren't affected by the fire," says Selby.
