Iron Māori Taranaki grows in popularity

Hundreds came from all over to gather in Waitara this weekend for Iron Māori Taranaki.

From its humble beginnings last year, the Taranaki event has over 600 registered competitors this year, making it an occasion for all.

The organisers of Iron Māori Taranaki are encouraging people to get off the couch and into exercise.

They say it's the nucleus to creating healthy Māori, physically-fit Māori and Iron Māori.

Aroaro Tamati believes, “It's all about finishing the event, which will in turn give you a longer lifespan.

“It's an excellent event that gives that physical challenge and in doing so, we can celebrate being Māori.”

The event is not all about winning but participating and crossing the finish line.
