Junior White Sox prepare for U19 World Championships

The Junior White Sox are set to play two additional warm up games tomorrow as they prepare for the U19 World Championships in Oklahoma City, America.

The team has already started work on developing their fitness and experimenting with combinations on the diamond in their warm up matches.

While the team has lost seven of the eight warm up games played so far, management says it has helped identify areas that need strengthening.

Some of the stand out players in the warm up games are Kayla Rangiawha and youngster Aaria Tawha, who both produced large hits, while Mereana Makea has performed consistently in the box.

While defensive lapses have also been identified, other players performing well in the infield are Mikayla Werahiko, and rookie Brooke Stubbs.

Junior White Sox Management stated that it is important for every player to get a sufficient amount of game time in order for a top nine to be established.

Head coach, Kevin Gettins, says he is looking for girls to step up and show consistency in their performances.

Overall, Gettins is pleased with the progress of the team, with the hitters finding form and pitchers improving, but is looking for further momentum moving forward.

The World Championships commence on August 9 and the following link will live stream the World Championship games.
