Kayla Whitelock to bow out from hockey post-Olympics

NZ Women's Black Sticks Captain, Kayla Whitelock will be ending her 13-year career with the NZ hockey side on her return from Rio.

The Rangitāne descendant has played 255 caps overall in the black singlet since first joining the side in 2003.

Despite huge efforts by her teammates to farewell Whitelock on an Olympic high, they were crushed 2-1 by Germany in the bronze medal playoff to take 4th place overall in the Women's Hockey.

Whitelock will be returning to farming life with her husband and their 1-year old daughter.
