Kelvin Davis supports march against sexual violence

Te Tai Tokerau MP Kelvin Davis is embarking on a journey, which will see him traverse the length of his electorate in a stand against sexual violence.

Davis says 95% of sexual violence incidences goes unreported, which is why he is encouraging people to join "Massive: Men Against Sexual Violence".

MPs from across all parties are being patched up, ready to march united against sexual violence.

Davis says, “It will be a march, an awareness campaign, to let all communities know that this is not just a Māori problem but a problem for everyone, whether you are Chinese, Polynesian, Pākehā, Māori, it's a problem in all communities.”

This fleet of MPs are preparing for the Massive march with Kelvin Davis calling for as many men as possible to get on board.

Davis says, “Women have been carrying this burden for a long time now and have long been advocates on the issue.  But it's now time for us men to get out there and let our fathers, our sons and friends know that this type of offending must come to an end.”

Davis says there is never enough funding for sexual violence agencies and the proceeds from the campaign will go toward that.

“We set up a GiveALittle page to help and support groups in the field like He Korowai Tūmanako in the North because of the lack of funds they receive.  So this will help toward that cause.”

The Massive march will launch this Friday from West Auckland and end at Cape Reinga.
