KFC Kaikohe staff meet with Restaurant Brands

The staff of KFC Kaikohe have met with the heads of Restaurant Brands in Auckland this afternoon.

Staff held a protest last week after being advised of the restaurant's closure before the Christmas period with no redundancy being offered to staff.

However the restaurant was closed yesterday, one week ahead of schedule due to the insufficient number of staff to operate the store safely through the three-week notice period.

Trade union, Unite, said today:

“Restaurant Brands closed the store yesterday ahead of its scheduled date of 2 December due to there being an insufficient number of staff to operate the store safely through the three week notice period.

Restaurant Brands will pay all staff for the early closure and the three week notice period.  As you know, staff have also been given the opportunity to relocate to other stores.”
