Kōwhiri 14 - Labour ahead in polls for Te Tai Tonga

According to the Kōwhiri 2014 exclusive poll results revealed on Native Affairs last night, Labour is ahead in the Te Tai Tonga region with 43% of potential voter support in the electorate.

17% of Te Tai Tonga voters would give their vote to National, while 16% would vote for the Māori Party, 10% would vote for the Green Party while NZ First received 8% and the Internet MANA Movement has 6 % of the potential Party Vote.

Incumbent MP for Te Tai Tonga, Rino Tirikatene of the Labour Party is ahead with 48%, while Ngaire Button of the Māori Party received 17%, with Dora Langsbury of the Greens and Georgina Beyer of the MANA Movement both sitting at 9%.

The four leading Māori candidates vying for the region in the upcoming General Election were given an opportunity to respond to the results and highlight how they would tackle the issues that matter most to the people of their rohe and what policies they have that would win them the right to represent their people.
