The Labour Party has accused the Government of more broken promises, this time regarding its commitment to the country’s most vulnerable.
Following last year’s general election John Key pledged to make child poverty a priority during his Government’s third term.
However, Finance Minister Bill English told reporters today that any high expectations around Budget allocations towards child poverty should be lowered.
“There’ll be more money in the Budget to feed the process but there won’t be new initiatives,” Bill English said.
Meanwhile the country’s largest counselling service provider, Relationships Aotearoa, is calling on the Government to continue its funding amid fears its financial support will be severely affected.
