Labour leader Cunliffe rules out Māori Party coalition

Sitting Waiariki MP Te Ururoa Flavell was out and about today drumming up support however the Labour Party weren’t so interested in the party's beat.

According to Te Ururoa Flavell, “The link between Labour has been cut, but who knows if we can connect that link up again hopefully we will see in the years to come.”

Traditionally, Waiariki has given its party vote to Labour in past elections.  David Cunliffe says if he is to lead the new government his first choice of coalition partners will be with the Greens and NZ First.

Māori Party were supposed to be launching their health policies today, however after Labour leader David Cunliffe's statements the event was postponed.

Te Ururoa Flavell says that regardless of hearing this news and the shock of it, Māori Party remains hopeful that they will leave the door open to Labour.

The announcement has come as a shock to the Māori Party but with only a few weeks out from elections and the forever changing political climate, it is possible this view may change.
