Mahuta holds strong lead for Hauraki-Waikato seat

The Hauraki-Waikato electorate, which stretches from Manurewa to Kawhia, has traditionally been a Labour stronghold with much of the support coming from within Tainui and the Kīngitanga, in our polls tonight we reveal just how important those strong tribal links are.

Labour candidate, Kīngitanga affiliate and current MP Nanaia Mahuta sits at 57%.

At 14% is Māori Party candidate Susan Cullen, however there's a 43% gap between her and Nanaia Mahuta.

Angeline Greensill sits at 10.4% for Internet-MANA.

While those who are still undecided sit at a high 11.4%.

A further 7.2% of those asked in the Māori Television poll say they won't vote for any of these candidates, or more simply that they won't vote.
